Our History

Our journey towards revolutionizing pilot training started with Dr. Irvin Gleim’s founding of Gleim Publications in 1980. As a pilot and aviation enthusiast, Dr. Gleim was committed to creating comprehensive, understandable training materials that emphasized safety, professionalism, and excellence. This dedication birthed an extensive suite of self-published pilot training books, which eventually evolved into a broad range of Test Prep materials, audios, and online courses, helping pilots nationwide ace their FAA pilot knowledge and practical flight tests.

The roots of Dr. Gleim’s dedication to the aviation industry run deep and personal. After earning his private pilot certificate in 1965 from the Institute of Aviation at the University of Illinois, he broadened his horizons. Upon completing his Ph.D., he took to the skies as a commercial pilot and instrument flight instructor, and took to heart his role as an FAA Aviation Safety Counselor.

Dr. Gleim’s unwavering commitment to excellence in the aviation field has been recognized with prestigious industry awards. His tireless work earned him the Excellence in Pilot Training Award, recognizing his outstanding contributions to safety, professionalism, leadership, and excellence in pilot training. More so, on April 7, 2017, his extensive contributions and dedication were further recognized by the FAA, who honored him with the Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award, a commendation given to pilots exhibiting professionalism, skill, and aviation expertise for at least 50 years.
